SACRE
On 29th May, 1913, Le Sacre du printemps, composed by Igor Stravinsky for Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes and choreographed by Nijinsky, caused a scandal at its premiere in Paris. Since then this volcanic work has become ‘the 9th symphony of the 20th century’ and has inspired numerous choreographers. For the centenary of Le Sacre, Sasha Waltz will create for her dancers her version of the work.
JAGDEN UND FORMEN
Along with this much-awaited premiere for La Monnaie this Berlin artist will present Jagden und Formen (Zustand 2008), a spirited choreography set to a frenzied score by Wolfgang Rihm in which the energy of the orchestra on stage fuses with that of the dancers. Sasha Waltz will once again exhibit her talent for dance and directing inspired by most innovative music
