Mobtown Playwrights Group Presents GIRDLE BOUND, 10/22-30

By:

The Mobtown Playwrights Group is proud to open its 2010-2011 season this October with Girdle Bound, a reading of a new one-act play by Peter Davis, featuring Jessica Ruth Baker and Peggy Dorsey.

Molly is an evolving dominatrix finding her place in the fetish scene. Her mother, Alice, moves in with her because she is a recent widow left in debt. Alice wants out and into her own place; the problem is, she lacks the skills and experience to land the kind of job that would allow her to do so. Molly simply wants her privacy back. But can she figure out a way to help each get what they want without destroying their relationship in the process?

Peter Davis is back in theatre after a 25-year detour playing drums in rock & roll and country music bands in Chicago. Since moving to Baltimore two years ago, he's been writing one-act plays. This summer he directed This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things by Ken Greller for Theatrical Mining Company as part of the Baltimore Playwrights Festival. The BPF awarded it Best Play and Best Production.

Girdle Bound will take place October 22, 23, 29, and 30 at The Mobtown Theater, 3600 Clipper Mill Road, Baltimore, MD 21211. All performances are at 8 P.M. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at the door or online through Brown Paper Tickets.

One ticket grants access to all four performances. An audience "talk back" session follows each reading. Attend as many times as you can to experience how the play changes as a result of the workshop process and your feedback.

The Mobtown Playwrights Group is dedicated to giving playwrights an opportunity and a venue in which to workshop and produce new plays for an audience committed to the process of new play development.

Each fall, three playwrights receive staged readings of a play they are in the process of developing. Each spring, one play that has received a staged reading-either the previous fall or during a previous season-will be selected to receive a full production at the Mobtown Theater in Baltimore.
