Maryland Ensemble Theatre to Present BALLS DEEP IN LOVE, Begin. 8/2

By:

Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) is proud to present Balls Deep in Love, a two person sketch comedy show about love, dating, and relationships written by MET Company Members and formerComedy Pigs, James McGarvey and Lisa Burl. For all those who are in love, have been in love, have fallen out of love, are in love with the idea of being in love, or could just punch love in the face - this original sketch comedy show is for you.

McGarvey and Burl decided to write the show this past New Year's Eve when they found themselves sitting at Dutch's Daughter, going dutch, appreciating Lisa's Dutch ancestry, and enjoying the early bird special amidst a sea of geriatric patrons. They were up way past their bedtime lamenting about past relationships and how the dating pool is essentially a cesspool. Curious about their fellow diners, they began to observe their behavior. Then, the obsession grew to watching everyone everywhere they went, eventually landing them in jail for a short stint on voyeurism charges.

Once out of the slammer, they decided to document their findings and began their journey by taking pen to paper and fingers to keyboard and hand jived their way to writing sketches about their own experiences, the experiences of others, and things that were simply amusing to them and hopefully, to the huge crowd that will come see the show. If you've every wondered what Abraham Lincoln's courtship was like, or how technology and social media have changed the dating world, or what animals think when they mate, this show is for you.

Maryland Ensemble Theatre will present Balls Deep in Love as part of its MET-Xseries, which affords MET ensemble members the opportunity to produce work outside of MET's mainstage season that expands the collective horizons of the MET and its audience. Performances are August 2, 3, 9, 10 at 8pm at Maryland Ensemble Theatre (31 W Patrick St. Frederick) located in the historic FSK Hotel. Tickets are $13.50 (includes all ticketing fees) and may be purchased by phone at (301) 694-4744, online at marylandensemble.org, or in person at the MET box office. Balls Deep in Love is intended for mature audiences only.

For over a decade, Maryland Ensemble Theatre has been producing thought-provoking theatre, fun family entertainment with The Fun Company, artist residency programs for public schools, challenging classes and the sidesplitting Comedy Pigs. The MET is an artistic leader in the region and at the forefront of the creation of Frederick's Theater District.
