Local community theater talent will perform Godspell to kick-off a year of celebration for the 160th year anniversary of First United Church in Fells Point.

Show time is 8:00pm Friday February 27, Saturday February 28, and Sunday March 1 at First United Church, 1728 Eastern Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland.

Tickets are adults $20 and $10 for children under 15 years, except Friday where tickets are $35 with opening night reception. Tickets are at the door or online at www.brownpapertickets.com event #53218. All proceeds will benefit the church and its services to the community.

Godspell, based loosely on the Gospel of Matthew and parables of Jesus, remains one of the most popular rock musicals of all time. The playful and poignant score by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked) includes such songs as "God Save the People," "All Good Gifts" and the Billboard hit "Day By Day." When it ended its run in September 1977, it had played for more than 2,600 performances.

Under the direction of Tammy Crisp, this production is a contemporary and fresh telling of how strangers are called to build a community "brick by brick" and "heart by heart". It challenges us each to consider the change we can make in the world through understanding one another more clearly. Music direction is by Robert Gee, and Choreography by Elizabeth Bendure.

First United Church is located at 1728 Eastern Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland, 21231. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online. Credit cards are not accepted at the door.

GODSPELL is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).

All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.
