Iron Crow Theatre Presents HEDWIG and the ANGRY INCH 9/4-25

Iron Crow Theatre Company will open its 2010-2011 season with Hedwig and the Angry Inch, September 4th-25th.

Premiering in New York City in 1998 with text by John Cameron Mitchell and music and lyrics by Stephen Trask, Hedwig and the Angry Inch chronicles the life of rock star wannabe Hedwig Schmidt. Bitter from a botched sex change operation, Hedwig is left with an "angry inch" Abandoned by her husband and betrayed by her boyfriend, Hedwig embarks on a search for fame, fortune, and her other half. Starring Joseph Ritsch and Sarah Taylor. Directed by Steven J. Satta with musical direction by Nick Jewett. Sets by Daniel Ettinger, lights by Don Thomas, costumes by Wil Crowther, and sound design by Todd Mion. All proceeds from the opening night performance on September 4th will benefit The Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Baltimore's Youth Programming. All shows at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 811 Cathedral Street. Curtain Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays is at 8 PM, and Sundays are at 7 PM.

Beginning November 4th and running through the 13th, Iron Crow will present their second show Apartment 213, an original piece by Iron Crow Associate Director Joseph Ritsch. Adam Bock's Swimming in the Shallows will make its Baltimore debut and will run March 31st to April 16th. Iron Crow Theatre will conclude their season with Brad Fraser's Unidentified Human Remains and the True Nature Of Love, running June 2nd-18th.

Iron Crow Theatre is a Baltimore-based theatre company dedicated to providing a voice for individuals and communities who, through choice or necessity, live outside the mainstream of society. Formed during in 2009, the founding members of Iron Crow produced an evening of theatre, dance and music in honor of Baltimore's Gay Pride celebration. The show, Gay Expectations, held at the University of Baltimore, brought together artists from the community while raising more than $1200 for local charity, Moveable Feast. Inspired by the success of the production, the group decided to form Iron Crow Theatre. "We wanted to add our voices to the already vibrant and thriving theatre scene in Baltimore," adds Artistic Director and Co-Founder, Steven Satta. "Even though we take a special interest in the work of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer-identified artists," he adds, "our artistic interests and aesthetics are as diverse as our company members." The company is currently in residence at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 811 Cathedral Street.
