Irish Folk Artists And Dancers Perform At McDaniel College 3/31
Irish folk artist Christopher James and the Broesler School of Irish Dancers will perform 4:30-6 p.m. March 31 in McDaniel Lounge. The event is free and open to the public.
A Baltimore-based recording artist, James is known for his signature-style Irish/Celtic work songs, gentle love songs, rousing pub songs and ballads. Also known for his joviality, James is an experienced balladeer and instrumentalist. He specializes in original and traditional Irish/Celtic folk music.
With classes being held in major cities along the East Coast, the Kevin Broesler School of Irish Dancer's students have experienced great success at regional and national competitions, as well as at the World Irish Dancing Championships held each year in Ireland. In 2005, Irish Dancing and Culture magazine named the Broesler School the top Irish Dancing School in the United States.
The school was founded by Kevin Broesler, a former national and world champion step dancer, who performs at concerts and cultural festivals. Broesler is a fully accredited teacher and adjudicator of Irish dancing, qualified by the An Coimisiún le Rincí Gaelacha in Ireland.
McDaniel College, a private four-year college of the liberal arts and sciences, was founded in 1867 as Western Maryland College. Students pursue more than 60 programs of study, including dual majors and student-designed majors. The 1,700 undergraduates and 1,300 graduate students receive personal attention and take advantage of leadership opportunities in the close-knit community, where the average class size is 17 and professors are dedicated mentors. The 160-acre campus is located in Westminster, Md., 30 miles northwest of Baltimore and 56 miles north of Washington, D.C.
