Fells Point Corner Theatre Presents THE MISER by Moliere, 1/15-2/14
Fells Point Corner will stage 'The Miser', Moliere's comedy of manners from January 15 to February 14, 2010.
'The Miser' is directed by Barry Feinstein, with translation by Virginia Scott.
The Miser, a "comedy of manners," was first performed in 1668 before King Louis XIV. Since that time, there have been numerous productions of The Miser in a myriad of languages. Molière's 17th century hilarious farce involves a rich money-lender called Harpagon, whose feisty children long to escape from his penny-pinching household and marry their respective lovers. This production of The Miser had been updated to take place during the 1936 depression era in New York. Molière's masterpiece begs the question, "How much does money really matter?"
The Miser is directed by Barry Feinstein, a certified Speech Pathologist, who has been directing since 1976. He began directing at Fell's Point Corner Theatre in 1987 with Fool For Love. He subsequently directed True West, Les Liaisons Dangereuse, Dancing at Lughnasa, Heaven, Three Sisters, Recent Tragic Events, Henry IV, Ella's Song, Air Ice, Forty Million Dollars, If You Want It and Off The Map, all at Fell's Point Corner Theatre. Last season, he directed Pinter's The Homecoming and Tracy Letts' Bug. Barry also teaches acting workshops and works with FPCT's "Special Players, Inspired Theatre." (formerly known as "The Challenged Ensemble")
Appearing in The Miser is a stellar cast of local veteran actors, which includes Rodney Bonds, Katherine Lyons, Lindsey Nixon, Graham Pilato, Megan Rippey and Alex Scally.
'The Miser' will play from January 15 - February 14, 2010. Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m., Sundays at 2:00 p.m. Admission: $17, Sunday Matinées $15. Cheap Seat $10 Thursdays are January 21 & February 11. The theatre is located at 251 South Ann Street in Baltimore.
