Electrical Fire Breaks Out At Adventure Theatre In Historic Glen Echo Park Adventure Theatre MTC (ATMTC), Maryland's longest running theatre for young audiences, suffered damage in a fire on Friday morning, March 2, 2018. There were no injuries. An announcement will be made about March 3-4, 2018 weekend performances by 5 pm on Friday, March 2, and any additional cancellations will be announced 24 hours in advance on the website and social media.

At approximate 1:30 am, Montgomery County Fire Department was called to the scene of a fire in historic Glen Echo Park where flames were already seeping out of the Turret located above the iconic theatre. Captain Gettig says of the fire began in the Turret/loft area above Adventure Theatre MTC's main offices from an electrical wire. No personnel were on site at the time, and there were no injuries as a result of the fire. The theatre itself was not affected, but the damage to the offices was significant.

Says Artistic Director, Michael J. Bobbitt, "I'm so grateful that the fire was contained and that no one was injured. In the 11 years that I have been Artistic Director, I have not seen the theatre suffer this much damage, and it is a major loss for our nonprofit organization."

Managing Director, Leon Seemann agrees. "It's times like these where I am grateful to have an amazing staff and team who is dedicated to this organization. We are thankful to all our friends who have reached out to support us during this difficult time. We also appreciate the quick response of emergency services of Montgomery County who prevented this tragedy from being even worse."

All purchased tickets for cancelled performances may be exchanged for an upcoming performance of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by e-mailing boxoffice@adventuretheatre-mtc.org with the order number and preferred time/date of the exchange or by calling the box office at 301.634.2270.

Programs at the Wintergreen Plaza location are not affected and will continue as scheduled.
