DRIVING MISS DAISY Comes to Dundalk Community Theatre, 2/21-3/2
Driving Miss Daisy, Alfred Uhry's 1998 Pulitzer Prize winner for Drama, will grace the stage of Dundalk Community Theatre. The story is a warm-hearted, humorous and affecting study of the unlikely relationship between an aging, crotchety white Southern lady, and a proud, soft-spoken black man. The show runs from February 21 to March 2. Individual tickets are $23 for adults, $20 for senior adults and $15 for students/DCT Actors/Children 12 and under. DCT is celebrating its 40th Season.
Driving Miss Daisy begins 1948 in the Deep South, just prior to the civil rights movement. Having recently demolished another car, Daisy Werthan, a rich, sharp-tongued Jewish widow of seventy-two, is informed by her son, Boolie, she must rely on the services of a chauffeur. The person he hires for the job is a thoughtful, unemployed black man, Hoke. Miss Daisy immediately regards him with disdain. The story follows their twenty-five year relationship. It is a gem of theatrical writing that encompasses the humor and drama of the ever-changing times and the power of friendship.

William A Walker (Hoke) of Randallstown has appeared in The Little Foxes, Superior Donuts, Ruined, and Glengarry Glen Ross, East Texas Hot links and film credits include The Last Kung Fu Monk, Head of State, and The Wedding Crasher. Jim Knost (Boolie Werthan) of Baltimore has appeared in Other People's Money (Bill Coles), Jane Eyre (Richard Mason), Macbeth, Brooklyn Boy, Mikado, Urinetown the Musical, Johnny Guitar, Sweeney Todd, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, The Gondoliers, Oliver, The Pirates of Penzance, Move Over, Mrs. Markham, 1776, Scrooge, and Inherit the Wind.
Show times are at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 3 p.m. Sunday - February 21 - March 2 in the John E. Ravekes Theatre, K Building. For tickets and information, call 443-840-2787.
