Potted Potter has played to sold out houses in Toronto, London, Edinburgh, Australia and New Zealand, and made its US debut on Saturday May 19th at the Little Shubert Theatre. The production celebrated its official opening night yesterday, June 3rd, and BroadwayWorld was exclueively invited to catch the opening curtain call and post-celebration! Saturday night, after giving her all on stage (as if that wasn't enough), Kristin Chenoweth hosted a fundraising event upstairs in the Grand Tier of City Center for her charity, Maddie's Corner (http://www.maddiescorner.org/). She spoke about the charity, as well as ASTEP (Mary-Mitchell Cambell's charity - http://asteponline.org/) and Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS (http://bcefa.org/) before going into the finale of her show, which was a song called 'I Was Here' from her new album, SOME LESSONS LEARNED.
Today, we bring you David Carroll circa 1986. Carroll was nominated for two Tony Awards as Best Actor in a Musical: in 1988 for Chess and again in 1990 for Grand Hotel. Carroll also received three Drama Desk Awards nominations as an Outstanding Actor in a Musical: La bohème (1984), Chess (1988), and Grand Hotel (1990). Carroll passed away from a pulmonary embolism in 1992.
Today, June 1, Dunkin' Donuts celebrated 'National Donut Day' by unveiling its first digital billboard in Times Square in collaboration with iconic Broadway producer and director Harold Prince. The billboard advertises PRINCE OF BROADWAY: THE MUSICAL OF A LIFETIME, scheduled to open next fall. The show is a look at Prince's unrivaled career, which has seen him win more Tony Awards than any other person in the history of Broadway.
