Ghostlight Records recorded the Original Cast Album of the hit, headline-making Off-Broadway musical Clinton The Musical yesterday, Tuesday, May 19 for release later this year. The production has book, music and lyrics byPaul Hodge, book by Paul Hodge and Michael Hodge, and was directed and choreographed by Tony Award nominee Dan Knechtges with musical direction by James Dobinson and orchestrations by Neil Douglas Reilly. Clinton The Musical is produced by Kari Lynn Hearn of CoolChic Productions, and Executive Produced by Ken Davenport. The recording will be produced by Dean Sharenow. The New York Drama Critics' Circle previously named Between Riverside and Crazy, by Stephen Adly Guirgis, best play of the 2014-15 season. Hamilton was named best musical. The selections were made at the organization's 80th annual voting meeting, at the offices of Time Out New York in Manhattan. As BroadwayWorld reported last week, legendary singer and guitarist B.B. King, known as the 'King of the Blues' passed away on May 14th in Las Vegas at the age of 89. The news was announced by his attorney. On May 1st, King revealed that he had entered hospice care after being in poor health for an extended period.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, PS Classics recorded the cast album of the critically acclaimed Broadway revival of On the Twentieth Century on Monday, March 23, 2015. This new Broadway Cast Recording will be released on May 19, 2015.  The album is currently available for pre-order at the PS Classics website, psclassics.com, and on Amazon.com. The Downtown Urban Theater Festival just presented playwright/director/actor Danny Hoch with the 2015 DUTF Playwright Masters Award at this year's Opening Night event at 40/40 Club (6 West 25th Street, NYC). The DUTF Playwright Masters Award is awarded to a writer that embodies the spirit of the Downtown Urban Theater Festival, founded in 2001 with the purpose of building a fresh repertoire of stories that echo the true spirit of urban life, while speaking to a whole new generation whose lives defy categorizing along conventional lines. Previous honorees of the DUTF Playwright Masters Award include Nilo Cruz (Pulitzer Prize winner for Anna in the Tropics) and Adrienne Kennedy (OBIE Award winner for Funnyhouse of a Negro).
