Student Blogger: Torrance Crary

Writing about my experiences studying theatre in college and everything that I have learned along the way is something I never envisioned myself doing.

This past month has been such a meaningful one for me as a performer. I had the opportunity to audition for my town’s summer production of The Little Mermaid, and it felt like a full-circle moment.

At the beginning of this year, I received an email from my professor encouraging me to audition for a new musical. This musical had not been produced anywhere else and they wanted college students to come workshop the musical.

Discovering our passions and figuring out who we are meant to become is one of the greatest journeys of life. This year, I am continuing my trek through my sophomore year at Texas State University.  

Throughout my life, I consistently struggled in school. It did not matter the subject, I never seemed to grasp the information that was being taught. Tireless hours of being referred to tutors, psychologists, and therapists was exhausting.
