What can a girl do to keep her creativity thriving as she searches for artistic opportunities while living through corporate hours?

Here, I share some of my favorite (and least favorite things) about living and going to school in New York City while preparing for my current commuter era.

I recently found out I'm finishing school in three years rather than four. That opens quite the can of worms, doesn't it?

The school year is finally over. Summer vacation has begun. But if you are like me and always working, summer vacation isn’t much of a vacation. Despite that terrible truth, the summer must be used for a recovery period. 

Although Art is meant to be shared and seen, there's something intimidating about actually sharing it, especially when your art always says something about you.

It's no fun when you are blocked creatively, but it's also not fun when the block is removed when you want nothing more than just sleep. But when the call is sounded, you have to answer it.

Just a little moment of me re-evaluating my time management skills and my work-life balance after my spring break almost completely tipped into the opposite territory I'm used to.

As I've gotten older and been introduced to more things, there are certain theatre-related genres or artists that I've grown more fond of. Let's take a look at them.

In class, we dove into the age of romanticism and how that movement influenced theatre at its time. How does that relate to today? What do we see now that we didn't before? Or what's something they did right we should remember?

The first time I did a show for more than one night, our director told us not to fall victim to the 'Sophomore Slump'. Now as an actual college sophomore in her second semester, the warning still rings true,

How do I define Academic Integrity as a theatre student? You can't really cheat on a test when your final is a scene, but you can cheat on your artistic self.

This entry is a bit more personal, but it explores my experience and perception of my identity concerning the things I do and how that changes as I grow up.

Sometimes the motivation for getting work done can be found in finding a good place to get work done. In my case, and that of many theatre students in New York City, that place is the Drama Bookshop.

In this post, I go through the five things that help me to stay focused and motivated. As the weather gets colder and the desire to do nothing increases, it gets harder and harder to get work done, but we must do what we need to push through!

As a double BFA reject (both Acting and Musical Theatre) student who now studies directing in a Theatre Arts B.A. program, I wanted to share the things I enjoy about the B.A. route that I wouldn't be able to get had I been in a BFA program. This is in NO way to throw any shade at BFA programs, but sometimes your journey changes along the way and the things you don't want to happen can turn into great opportunities.
