Student Blogger: Haley White

After 4 months, it is time for me to finalize my final Broadway World Blog. When thinking about what I wanted my final topic to be, I realized that I just wanted to talk about my experience and what this opportunity has taught me. When I was sent the application from my supervisor, I was hesitant. I am not a blogger, but rather an academic writer, so I was extremely worried that I would not be able to produce quality content. On top of my busy schedule, shows, and classes, finding the time to write these blogs was also tough. Sometimes I was able to get these blogs done a week in advance, and other times I was racing against the clock. After sitting down and writing my first blog, I realized that I was going to get out of this experience what I put in it. What I mean by that is, if I want to have a stress-free experience, I can’t let the articles stress me out. Sitting down and writing these articles provided much-needed grounding and tranquility after really stressful days. Instead of stressing out about completing another project, I used these blogs as a reward for getting stuff done, which made this whole process feel so whimsical and fun.

3, 2, 1, Happy New Year! 2026 has welcomed us with open arms, and it’s up to us to make the most of it. New Year’s brings warmth and rejuvenation, a fresh drive to tackle something new or buckle down on something familiar. Personally, I stepped into the new year with the goal of becoming a better person. 2025 provided quite the mental struggle for me, and I felt myself becoming icky. I became irritated more easily, I procrastinated on all my work, I slept too much, and I ate too little. As I have said before, I adore adhering to a schedule, but 2025 threw me for a loop. 2026, though, is my year to get back on track and find ways to become more positive.

This January marks my final semester before I graduate with a double major in Theatre Arts Administration and Musical Theatre. While I am constantly making time to perform, Theatre Management holds a special place in my heart.

Balancing the daily schedule of a full-time college student is rough, and adding a Work-Study program, clubs, honors associations, rehearsals, shows, events, and hopefully some socialization time just makes the days seem endless.

If you celebrate, Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas! If not, Happy Holidays to you! I don’t know about anyone else, but my favorite time of the year is the holiday season because that means food, family, and, as a student, a break from school.

It has become common practice for us to please our colleagues as we please an audience, yet we struggle to please ourselves as individuals. Following the journey to loving ourselves as much as we love the arts is crucial to having a happy career.

Going home for the summer is always a relief, as finals make collegiate life stressful, especially for Theatre Majors—final performances, juries, portfolios, and auditions fill schedules.
