The first-ever Margaret Mead Filmmaker Award was given to the brothers Marc and Nick Francis for their film When China Met Africa at closing night ceremony of the 34th annual Margaret Mead Film & Video Festival on Sunday, November 14, 2010. Representing the best in documentary, animation, experimental nonfiction, and archival footage, the Mead Festival offers an intimate look at worlds rarely revealed, furthering its mission of bringing awareness of cultural anthropology.

On Saturday, November 20, 2010, at 7 p.m., fifteen singers will perform at Studio @620 in St. Petersburg Opera's version of 'Opera Idol.' These young singers have been participating in a series of workshops led by Maestro Mark Sforzini in which they have received extensive coaching in interpretation and performance techniques. In addition to over 12 hours of group sessions, each singer worked with Maestro Sforzini one-on-one. These workshops and coachings were made possible by a generous gift from the Florida Suncoast Opera Guild, as part of their Education Sponsorship for the 2010-2011 Season of St. Petersburg Opera.

Wilton's Music Hall presents a traditional Victorian Christmas this year with WILTON'S VINTAGE CHRISTMAS devised and directed by Nick Hutchison, which opens on Tuesday 7 December, previewing from 6 December.
