Following the sold out performances and overflow crowds at its first two Cino Nights presentations (of Gary Sunshine's BEST SEX EVER and Mando Alvarado's (O)N THE 5:31), Rising Phoenix Rep continued the series November 7th with Courtney Baron's HERE I LIE which was performed by Denis Butkus and Samantha Soule to a sold out house. In this two-character play, 'Maris and Joseph have made their beds and now have to lie in them. Two people connected by illness, loneliness, and the need to be understood, they navigate the murky waters of subjective truth. If you believe it, can you make it true?' The production was directed by Rising Phoenix Rep artistic director Daniel Talbott.

Tickets for Cameron Mackintosh's new 25th anniversary production of LES MISERABLES are now on sale for the premiere Philadelphia engagement at the Academy of Music beginning January 4- 15, 2011. The Philadelphia engagement will mark the first official stop on the multi-city national tour. The all new production of LES MISERABLES features glorious new staging and spectacular reimagined scenery inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo. The press opening is Wednesday, January 5 at 7:30 pm.

The stage is set for the joyful visit by Jolly Old St. Nick. The Kelsey Players present a beloved musical adaptation of Clement Moore's TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS at Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre. Performances take place Friday, December 10 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, December 11 at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.; and Sunday, December 12 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on the college's West Windsor campus at 1200 Old Trenton Road.

This winter, Diana Amsterdam's CARNIVAL ROUND THE CENTRAL FIGURE brings the macabre back to New York City. In a staging by Karen Kohlhaas reminiscent of the carnal exorbitance of carnivale's heyday, featuring a cast of characters pulled straight from the murky depths of the human psyche. Carnival is a hilarious, bizarre, and poignant story of the meaning of death, of dying with dignity, and the ancient dilemma of living for a life after death. Presented by IRT Theater (Kori Rushton, Artistic Director).

Comedy, drama and dance are all on the upcoming performance schedule for Theatre and Dance students at Mercer County Community College. In their first production of the fall semester, students will perform Howard Korder's Pulitzer Prize-nominated play, BOY'S LIFE. This heterosexual coming-of-age black comedy will be performed Friday, Nov. 19 at 8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 20 at 2 and 8 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 21 at 2 p.m. at MCCC's Studio Theatre, located next to Kelsey Theatre on the West Windsor Campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.

Registration has begun for the Howard County Arts Council's visual and performing arts winter programs at the Howard County Center for the Arts (HCCA) in Ellicott City. The Arts Council offers classes and workshops for children, teens, and adults. Winter art educational programs begin January 25, 2011. Classes run for up to eight weeks through March 26.

Quinnipiac University's Theater for Community will present its production of JOHNNY JOHNSON, a satiric musical that explores the journey of a young World War I soldier who attempts to stop what he regards as a senseless war. The play, which was written by Paul Green and Kurt Weill, will be performed Nov. 11-14 at Long Wharf Theatre, Stage II, in New Haven.
