Harlem Stage presents the film 'Bilal's Stand' by Sultan Sharrief on Monday, October 25 at 7:30pm Bilal, a high school senior, must choose between two worlds: Working at his family's taxi stand or his dream of attending college. The film based on a true story follows tough choices a young man must make to establish his own identity. Screening followed by a Q&A session with filmmaker and reception.

Local and International Artists come together for an explosive mash-up of sound and dance, inviting the audience to be a part of a night Uptown. The unique collaboration features Dutch dance company Don't Hit Mama, New York City talent and DJ Center as they close the 10th Anniversary of the NYC Hip-Hop Theater Festival. SAMEER GUPTA'S NAMASKAR with Sameer Gupta, Marc Cary & more on Tuesday, October 19  at 7:30pm

This performance is free with a required RSVP. A fresh and innovative approach towards jazz, Indian and soul music, Namaskar features percussionist Sameer Gupta alongside his associate pianist Marc Cary and an ensemble of Indian Classical and Modern Jazz musicians. UPTOWN OPEN Thursday, October 21 at 5:00pm

Uptown Open is a monthly open mic series for teens on the 3rd Thursday of each month. It provides a safe, uncensored space for poets, spoken word artists, emcees, scholars and activists to share their powerful and important voices. These events are run by youth for youth, with youth DJs, youth hosts and a monthly featured poet. Get there early to get on the list. Hosted by the Word Wide Leadership Board. Tickets for this event are available at the door on a first come, first served basis.
