Director Bobby Garcia Attached to West End's Forthcoming 'Sacrifice'

Coinciding with the opening night of the Expo 2010 Shanghai, the Sacrifice partners (producers Toby Simkin, William Ong and authors Kenneth Clarke, Richard Daniels and Mark Troop) are pleased to announce the attachment of internationally renowned stage director, Bobby Garcia to direct the musical of Sacrifice. In addition to the feature film version, the musical is in development now to open in London's West End after an Asian workshop production.

Composer Andrew Lloyd-Webber has officially joined the long list of theater stars on Twitter. Andrew Lloyd Webber is the composer of The Likes of Us, Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, By Jeeves, Evita, Variations and Tell Me on a Sunday combined as Song & Dance, Cats, Starlight Express, The Phantom of The Opera, Aspects of Love, Sunset Boulevard, Whistle Down The Wind, The Beautiful Game and The Woman in White. He composed The film scores of Gumshoe and The Odessa File, and Requiem, a setting of The Latin Requiem Mass, for which he won a Grammy for Best Contemporary Composition. He has also produced in The West End and on Broadway, not only his own work, but The Olivier Award-winning plays La Bête and Daisy Pulls It Off.

'Dreamgirls' Director Bill Condon to Helm 'Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn'

According to Comingsoon.net, Academy Award-winner Bill Condon has officially signed on to direct The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. This will be the fourth film in the Twilight series based on the novels of the same name and will star Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. Melissa Rosenberg is currently writing the film's screenplay and Wyck Godfrey, Karen Rosenfelt and Twilight author Stephanie Meyer will produce the film.

According to Deadline.com, GLEE has officially become the highest-rated new scripted series of the season after last night's huge ratings. Deadline.com states that GLEE 'averaged a 5.3 rating/14 share among adults 18-49 after American Idol, flat from last week's heavily promoted Madonna episode.'

Executive Producer Lou Spisto has announced that due to unforeseen conflicts with Roger Rees' schedule, The Old Globe's upcoming production of What You Will has been replaced with Golda's Balcony starring four-time Tony Award nominee Tovah Feldshuh. Written by William Gibson and supervised by Scott Schwartz, Golda's Balcony earned Feldshuh a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress, and is the longest running one-woman show in Broadway history. Golda's Balcony will runin the Old Globe Theatre April 28 - May 30. Previews run April 28 - May 1. Opening night is Saturday, May 1 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are currently available to subscribers only. Brian Runbeck, who starred in the title role in Cortland Repertory Theatre's production of 'Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde' last summer is the recipient of the Syracuse Area Live Theatre (SALT) Award for Best Actor of the Summer Season. The SALT Awards recognize outstanding achievement in Central New York theatre productions over the past year. Hosted by the Syracuse New Times, the awards ceremony was held at the Palace Theatre in Syracuse on Sunday, April 26. Primarily an evening for community theatres in Syracuse, this is the sixth year that the awards have included a category for summer theatres, which besides CRT includes the Hangar Theatre in Ithaca and the Merry Go Round Playhouse in Auburn.

HartBeat Ensemble, Hartford's local professional theater ensemble, will perform a workshop version of their newest original work, FlipSide on April 30th, May 1st, 7th, and 8th at 7:30pm at the Manchester Community College Auditorium (MCC). The work is the culmination of hundreds of hours of interviews with the community about the War on Drugs. HartBeat Ensemble will use audience feedback and talk-back discussions to finalize the production for its official premier next year.
