Bucking the trend toward more modest offerings, Shadow Theatre Company expands its programming and offers six shows for its 2009-10 season. Celebrating its one-year anniversary in its new state-of-the-art facility in the East End Arts District in Aurora, Shadow Artistic Director Jeffrey Nickelson notes, 'One group that is under-represented in American theatre is women-especially African American woman; which is why our upcoming season celebrates women and is entitled 'Celebrating Women, Mothers and Daughters.' Women's work, energy, thought, and spirit help build the world we live in today, and each scheduled show demonstrates the strength and beauty of womanhood.' Nickelson goes on, 'Funding for Shadow and all arts institutions have declined over the past year but we have faith that this exciting season will bring people out to the theatre. In tough times, we celebrate tough women-because their devotion to goodness and community is what will bring us through the current crisis.'

After working on 'Sole Survivors' for two and a half years, Santa Fe performance artist and author/journalist Michelle Vest will open her heartfelt new play, 'Sole Survivors' in New York (June) and Albuquerque (July).

From the stories of A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh has been dramatized by le Clanché du Rand. With music by Allan J. Friedman, lyrics by A.A. Milne and Kristin Sergel, and additional Lyrics by le Clanché du Rand, Winnie-the-Pooh will be performed Saturdays, June 6, 13 & 20 and July 11 & 18 at 1:00pm and 4:00pm, and Monday - Thursday, July 13 ? 16 at 9:45am and 11:30am. School groups should call 713-524-9196 ext 101 for available field trip times for July 13 - 16. The show is directed by Daria James and will be performed at Main Street Theatre (Chelsea Market, 4617 Montrose Blvd., Houston, TX 77006).

It is directed by Mark Adams.

What The World Needs Now?The Music of Burt Bacharach will take place at Kaufmann Concert Hall, 1395 Lexington Avenue, New York, Monday, May 18. Jill introduced the Bacharach/David pop classics I?ll Never Fall In Love Again, Knowing When To Leave and Whoever You Are I Love You. O?Hara went on to win a Tony nomination, the Theater World Award and New Jersey Journal Award for Best Actress In A Musical, while the cast album earned a Grammy Award. Because feedback from parents has suggested that it can be a challenge to take children with Autism to entertainment venues, Autism Action Partnership has made it possible for The Rose to offer one performance each season exclusively for families touched by the developmental disability.
