American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) announces the final show of its 2008-09 season: Edward Albee's At Home at the Zoo, staged by acclaimed director Rebecca Bayla Taichman (world premieres of Theresa Rebeck's The Scene and Mauritius and Sarah Ruhl's Dead Man's Cell Phone). This new spellbinder by the master playwright who also penned Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and A.C.T.'s The Goat, or Who is Sylvia?, is a meticulously calibrated and dangerously brutal look at relationships intimate and unexpected. The story opens with Peter, a tweedy book editor, and his wife, Ann, whose everyday conversation takes an unexpected turn into dangerously personal territory. It's the kind of conversation that can drive a husband out for a walk-to Central Park, where Jerry, a desperate outcast, awaits. An unforgettable pairing of Albee's original The Zoo Story with a freshly penned prequel, At Home at the Zoo (formerly titled Peter and Jerry) bares its teeth to threaten the delicately balanced world its characters inhabit. Artistic Director Carey Perloff has put together an all-star artistic team on this production, featuring Tony Award-nominated actor Manoel Felciano (Ragtime at The Kennedy Center, A.C.T.'s Rock 'n' Roll, and Sweeney Todd on Broadway) as Jerry and scenic designer Robert Brill, who received a Tony Award nomination last week for his work on Guys and Dolls on Broadway. The woman, Jean, feels compelled to answer the insistent ringing, and this action starts her on an unexpected journey through the dead man?s life, as Stage West presents the area premiere of Sarah Ruhl?s Dead Man?s Cell Phone, beginning Thursday, May 21.

The McCoy Rigby Conservatory of the Arts (MRCA) will launch the nation?s only ?Summer Stock? for talented young musical theatre performers, selected by audition from Southern California and throughout the United States, to be held in Orange County, California from July 13 through August 15, 2009. Sixty exceptionally talented young singers and dancers with aspirations for careers on Broadway and in the entertainment industry, ages 14-21, will participate in this intensive five week repertory program consisting of master classes, workshops and rehearsals and culminating in the performance of three fully-staged musical theatre productions.

David Zinman will conduct the New York Philharmonic in programs May 13?16, 2009, replacing Esa-Pekka Salonen, who has withdrawn due to back trouble. Mr. Zinman will lead the Rush Hour Concert on Wednesday, May 13, at 6:45 p.m., which will now comprise Mussorgsky?s Night on Bald Mountain and Shostakovich?s Violin Concerto No. 1, with Christian Tetzlaff as soloist. On Thursday, May 14, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 16, at 8:00 p.m., he will conduct the Mussorgsky and Shostakovich works, concluding with the previously announced Sibelius Symphony No. 5. On Friday, May 15, at 8:00 p.m., the stories behind the Sibelius symphony will be explored during a multimedia Inside the Music program, narrated by Gerard McBurney, followed by a complete performance of the work conducted by Mr. Zinman.

Seattle Theatre Group (STG Presents), Live Nation, and The Lakeside Group present the first-ever No Depression Festival, sponsored by the pioneering and influential roots-music magazine and website. The festival will take place Saturday, July 11, 2009, at Marymoor Park in Redmond, Washington, just outside Seattle. Who Wants Cake? is thrilled to present its next late night venture, Harry Gibson?s stage adaptation of Irvine Welsh?s Trainspotting. A run of Cole Porter & Herbert Field's never before seen 'The New Yorkers' has just been completed at London's Sadler's Wells Theatre. The next show in this season is Kurt Weill's first ever American show 'Johnny Johnson' written by Paul Green and Weill (originally starred John Garfied, Elia Kazan etc) their production will be led by American Lauren Ward of Roundabout' Follies' and the Royal Shakespeare Company's 'Pericles' and Lauren is Mrs Matthew Warchus.

Auditions for the second show in Pioneer Theatre Company's 2009- 2010 Season, Is He Dead? will be held on Friday, June 5th, 2009 from 12 noon to 4:00 p.m. Noon to 1 p.m. is reserved for AEA (Equity) members only, but AEA members may sign up for any time slot. Callbacks will be the morning of Saturday, June 6th, 2009; the time will be announced. Auditions will be held in Room 245 at the Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre.
