Nicole Rosky

Nicole is the Editor-in-Chief of BroadwayWorld, where she began her journey as an intern in 2010. As BroadwayWorld's Senior Managing Editor, a role she took on in 2012, she covered over a decade's-worth of theatre and live entertainment in New York City and around the world. Throughout her time with BroadwayWorld, Nicole has worked extensively with the photo and video team, producing (and sometimes editing) a great deal of the site's original programming, including Backstage with Richard Ridge, Dance Captain Dance Attack, Next on Stage, Kid Critics, and Teen Critics, just to name a few. Originally from outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she is a proud graduate of Penn State University's College of Communications. Nicole currently resides in Brooklyn, New York, where she gets to enjoy far more great theatre than she ever dreamed. Her first great role was "Billy Flynn" in her fourth grade musical theatre class. Oh, how far she has come!

  • Tony Nominee Reactions - I have had the pleasure of covering every Tony Awards season since 2011 and one of my favorite parts is hearing from the nominees just moments after they find out that they ARE nominees.
  • Theatre Queens - When I'm not at a Broadway show, you'll find me at home, catching up on the latest episodes of RuPaul's Drag Race. I've had a blast chatting with many of the queens who call theatre their first love.
  • Broadway Jukebox - I love a good playlist and I find myself making them OFTEN. I've curated over 100 musical theatre playlists for BroadwayWorld (my personal favorite is "Female Anthems of Broadway"). Give them a listen and follow BroadwayWorld on Spotify to find out what I come up with next!
  • Broadway By Design - I created this series after realizing how little information is shared about the theatrical design process and it has become one of my favorite ongoing features.
  • Next On Stage - Working on this project and having the opportunity to spotlight so many talented young people from around the country has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.

The production stars Neil Patrick Harris and Lena Hall, and is directed by Michael Mayer. On Monday, April 14, the Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud to present Tony and Drama Desk Award nominated songwriter Amanda Green and her Broadway friends in 'Amanda Green's Spring Trunk Show'. The musical event was a celebration of Green's trunkful of songs that were cut on their way to opening nights of Hands on a Hardbody, Bring It On, High Fidelity, and more. The cast included Kathleen Monteleone, Jenn Colella,Greg Naughton, Janet Krupin, Jay Armstrong Johnson, and Ryann Redmond. The musical director for the show wasMatt Gallagher. The Dramatists Guild's Anti-Piracy Committee just hosted their first-ever Anti-Piracy awareness event on Monday, April 21. During the event, established and up-and-coming musical theatre writers paired up to reach out to known sheet music pirates and ask them to take down the links to their sheet music. The day is intended to raise awareness about the problem of sheet music piracy and take steps against the digital distribution of stolen sheet music. MCC THEATER will present Greta Gerwig, Max Baker, Jason Butler Harner, Lucy Owen, Cara Seymour, and Scott Shepherd in the American premiere of Penelope Skinner's celebrated play The Village Bike, the final production of MCC's 2013-14 Main Stage season. The Village Bike, directed bySam Gold, who recently directed the much-raved new musical Fun Home and this season's The Realistic Jones on Broadway, will premiere at The Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, NYC) beginning May 22, 2014 with an official opening on June 10, 2014. The songs are a unique blend of legit theater and pop/rock. The show is a new telling of the epic, tragic love story of the biblical couple from different cultures. Delilah, the beautiful young Philistine, falls in love with the mighty Samson. When she betrays him it's over misguided jealousy. She realizes her tragic mistake and they reconcile. Today in 2004, Assassins opened at Studio 54, where it ran for 101 performances. Assassins is a musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by John Weidman, based on an idea by Charles Gilbert, Jr. It uses the premise of a murderous carnival game to produce a revue-style portrayal of men and women who attempted (successfully or otherwise) to assassinate Presidents of the United States. The music varies to reflect the popular music of the eras depicted.The musical first opened Off-Broadway in 1990, and the 2004 Broadway production won five Tony Awards.
