Broadway legend Bernadette Peters joins the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra (NJSO) for "An Evening with Bernadette Peters," the final program in the NJSO's 2011-12 POPS series, on Saturday, June 2, at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark.

Tony Award-winning actress, singer and songwriter Idina Menzel, star of Broadway's Wicked and the original stage production of Rent, will ring in the new year at Walt Disney Concert Hall with two performances of her brand new live show, on December 31, 2012, at 7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

Today in 1962, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum opened at the Alvin Theatre (now the Neil Simon Theatre), where it ran for 964 performances. A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum is a musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart. Inspired by the farces of the ancient Roman playwright Plautus, specifically Pseudolus, Miles Gloriosus and Mostellaria, the musical tells the bawdy story of a slave named Pseudolus and his attempts to win his freedom by helping his young master woo the girl next door. The musical's original 1963 Broadway run won several Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Book. A Funny Thing has enjoyed several Broadway and West End revivals and was made into a successful film starring the original lead of the musical, Zero Mostel.

On last night's episode of SMASH, viewers finally got their first look at 'Bombshell,' the Marilyn Monroe musical at the heart of NBC's new musical drama. The show opened for a test run in Boston. In the episode entitled 'Previews', the writing team of Tom (Christian Borle) and Julia (Debra Messing) scrambled to fix the show when the first preview fell short, and Frank (Brian d'Arcy James) had to adjust to the unwelcome return of Michael Swift (Will Chase) to his life. Dev (Raza Jaffrey) seeked reconciliation with Karen (Katharine McPhee), but explosive information about Ivy (Megan Hilty) lurked just beneath the surface.

According to a report by Vulture, GLEE producer Ryan Murphy has just gained permission from NBC chief Bob Greenblatt to begin hiring writers for his third series, The New Normal. The show has not been officially picked up, but this development nudges it much closer.

Anjelica Huston, the Oscar-winning actress known for her genre-spanning performances in CRIMES & MISDEMEANORS, THE WITCHES, The Addams Family, PRIZZI'S HONOR and THE GRIFTERS - among many other notable performances sings 'September Song' in her singing debut on tonight's episode of SMASH. On May 15, FOX will air two back-to-back GLEE episodes, entitled 'Props' and 'Nationals'. As the countdown to graduation continues, the kids of New Directions prepare a high-concept routine for Nationals. When Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz) bumps her head, the world of New Directions is turned upside down in her eyes. Adam Feldman, president of the New York Drama Critics' Circle (NYDCC), has announced that the Circle will meet at the offices of Time Out New York magazine today, Monday, May 7, to select the winners of the 77th annual New York Drama Critics' Circle Awards, which will be announced at approximately 7pm, immediately following the meeting.

'Good Day New York' will welcome the legendary Liza Minnelli on Tuesday, May 8. Its the same day that her 1974 concert recording Liza Minnelli Live At The Winter Garden is released on CD for the first time.
