The Isadora Duncan Dance Company Present THE ART OF ISADORA, 5/22April 18, 2012To coincide with Isadora Duncan's 135th birthday May 26, 2012, Lori Belilove & The Isadora Duncan Dance Company will honor the mother of modern dance by offering a week of performances May 22-26. The six performances of the program The Art of Isadora will offer a retrospective on the life and art of Isadora Duncan, including signature solos and group works performed with live piano accompaniment by Matthew Ward.
Danielle Hope to Judge Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer of the Year CompetitionApril 18, 2012The twelve finalists for this year's Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer of the Year Competition will be judged by Danielle Hope (Dorothy in Wizard of Oz and soon to be in the film of Les Miserables), Michael McCabe (Producer, Wicked), David Shrubsole (Conductor, London Road) and Laurie Sansom (Artistic Director, Derngate Theatre, Northampton). The chairman of the judges will be Edward Seckerson, Chief Classical Music and Opera Critic for The Independent and the prize will be awarded by Julia McKenzie and a representative of Overtures: The Bunnett-Muir Musical Theatre Archive Trust, sponsors of the SSSSSPOTY first prize. The event is being hosted by Claire Moore (London Road/Miss Saigon) and takes place at 3pm on Sunday 27 May at the Queen's Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue, London.
Rogers Park Presents Three Premiere Plays, 5/13April 18, 2012After a successful Fall repertory series focusing on the modern effects of war, the side project theatre company in Rogers Park will present a look at the historical impact of war, specifically on youth, with one U.S., one world, and one Chicago premiere. Enola, by Al Smith; Joan's Laughter, by Jacob Juntunen; and a new adaptation of Aleksei Arbuzov's The Promise, by Nick Dear open May 13th, 16th and 22nd, respectively. The rep will run through June 17.
The Honey Brothers Release TIME FLIES LIKE A PEACHApril 18, 2012The Honey Brothers new LP, Time Flies Like A Peach, is available now on Velour Music Group/ RED. The band's first full-length release since 2006's Songs For Your Sister, this latest effort was produced by Malcolm Burn (Emmylou Harris, Patti Smith) and recorded in Kingston, NY. The Honey Brothers kick off the release with a headlining date at NYC's Bowery Ballroom on Thursday, April 19.
