St. Petersburg Opera Company Giving Back to the Arts

St. Petersburg Opera Company is undertaking another collaboration with local artists and arts companies. In conjunction with its production of Madama Butterfly, (June 10, 12 and 14 at the Palladium Theater), the opera company is joining with photographer Steven Le of Thee Photo Ninja and local art company, Canvas Zoo, to create beautiful archival images featuring the stars in their costumed roles.

Southeast Asian English-language channel AXN is planning to present the region's first ever TV musical, 'The Kitchen Musical,' according to Variety. 'The Kitchen Musical' will combine drama, music, dance and recipes and is set to premiere across China in October.

As part of The New Theatre Project's mission to produce work centered around truthful, human stories, TNTP presents a special event titled The Story on Friday, June 24 at 8 pm. The Story casts audience members as storytellers in an event inspired by NPR's Moth Radio Hour. In what promises to be an evening that indulges the ears, eyes and the soul, TNTP will welcome local musicians Match by Match to play between stories. Local visual artists will also display their work for purchase.

Colfer visited Lea Michele and Jenna Ushkowitz and slept on Michele's couch, going to see seven Broadway shows in just six days. Colfer also took his first cab ride during the trip, by pretending to stay at a hotel so that the doorman could help him get a cab!

Metropolitan Opera Radio on Sirius XM (Channel 74) will celebrate the 40th anniversary of James Levine's Metropolitan Opera debut with a full week of Levine performances. Fifteen historic performances, three of which join the archival rotation on Sirius XM for the first time, will air in rotation for an entire week, beginning May 30 and ending June 5. The broadcasts will be introduced by Levine and other artists, some of whom will also pay tribute to the Met Music Director's extraordinary career in special segments between operas.
