One of the most popular programs at the Long Beach Playhouse is its New Works Festival. Conceived more than 20 years, the New Works Festival invites novice and experienced playwrights from all over the world to submit their un-produced plays to the Playhouse's New Works Literary Committee. Members of the committee then read the 100+ scripts that are submitted.

Broadway veteran and GLEE star Jonathan Groff stars opposite original cast member Alfred Molina in the Los Angeles premiere of RED at the Mark Taper Forum. Groff plays Ken (orignally played by Tony winner Eddie Redmayne) in the play, alongside Molina who reprises his Tony-nominated role as Mark Rothko. Michael Grandage directs.

A public celebration will be held on Broadway to honor the literary and theatrical career of Gore Vidal from 12-1 PM on Thursday, August 23, 2012, at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre (236 West 45th Street), currently home to the Tony-nominated revival of Gore Vidal's The Best Man, which concludes its limited engagement on Sunday, September 9, 2012.

The Annual Last Waltz - Revisited will showcase members of Polytoxic together with 40+ musicians from across Colorado; this show has become an annual tradition, bringing the community together to kick-off the holiday season. The Second City Training Center will be presenting a new musical, The Mighty Ted: An Unexpected Journey, every Saturday in September at 9 PM in Donny's Skybox Theater, 230 W. North Ave. 4th floor. The show was written and will be performed by Ted Waltmire, a training center student who survived a stroke in April, 2009.

The Berkeley Community Fund has announced that it will award the 2013 Benjamin Ide Wheeler Medal to Susan Medak, managing director of Berkeley Repertory Theatre. The prestigious award, established in 1929, honors a person who has made significant, long-term contributions to the greater Berkeley community. The medal will be granted to Ms. Medak at the Fund's annual awards dinner on October 4.

Midsommer Flight brings a 'delightful and fast-paced outdoor production' of A Midsummer Night's Dream to Chicago this summer, with performances beginning this weekend. A new theatre collective dedicated to producing outdoor performances of Shakespeare's plays, Midsommer Flight is proud to produce the play as an arts partner with the Chicago Park District.

The Delaware River Theatre Collective (DRTC), the region's newest professional theatre company, joins forces with the Fabulous Felines Cat Adoption Center of Lambertville, NJ during the Collective's upcoming production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats. The Delaware River Theatre Collective production of Cats is set to run on Friday, August 24 and Saturday, 25 at 8 pm and Sunday, August 26 at 2 pm.

Relive a musical adaptation of the enchanting fairytale Cinderella, running October 11 through October 13; 'Twas The Night Before Christmas, the magical timeless musical classic runs November 30 through December 15; the thrilling story of bravery, Freedom Train takes the stage January 14 through January 18; and the cherished, love story Beauty and the Beast comes to the stage April 10 through April 14.

The Coterie will present Television star Paul Adelstein's band DORIS live in their supper club home at the Loews Hollywood Hotel on Saturday, August 18. Coming off a successful month-long residency at the M Bar in Hollywood, Paul Adelstein, the musical architect behind Doris, and his band will be performing new music from their latest full-length album, All The Details.

The Broadway at Birdland concert series has announced that Tony Award Nominated actress and singer Anita Gillette will be presenting two evenings of music and memories while taking what's being described as 'an intimate, touching and hilarious look behind the scenes from Broadway to Hollywood' in her new autobiographical one-woman show "After All." The events will take place on Monday, September 24 & Monday, October 1 at 7pm at Birdland (315 West 44 Street, NYC).

The Met's popular Summer HD Festival returns for its fourth year on August 25, with ten free outdoor screenings of acclaimed performances from the Met's award-winning Live in HD series. The festival, which more than 40,000 people attended last year, kicks off with a screening of the Met's recent world premiere hit The Enchanted Island, a Baroque pastiche which stars David Daniels, Joyce DiDonato, and Placido Domingo.

Guns N' Roses takes over Sin City with their first-ever residency Appetite for Democracy at The Joint inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino this fall. The band will play 12 hows starting Wednesday, October 31 through Saturday, November 24.
