The Sundays In Summer Cabaret Concert Series at the Arthur Newman Theater continues on August 26th with singer/songwriter and winner of the Johnny Mercer Songwriting Award, Michele Brourman. Ms. Brourman has written numerous contemporary standards that have been recorded by Michael Feinstein, Olivia Newton-John, Cleo Laine, Margaret Whiting, Rita Coolidge, Donny Osmond, and Sheena Easton. For the cabaret-set, her songs have been recorded by and performed by some of the best in that genre including Heather MaCrae, Karen Mason, Sharon McKnight, Sally Mayes, Billy Stritch, and her frequent collaborator Amanda McBroom.

The National Opera Center opens for business on September 4, with the official ribbon cutting taking place on September 28. The National Opera Center of OPERA America provides an array of essential facilities and services to the opera industry that have been sorely needed and never before available under a single roof. Encompassing 25,000 square feet on two floors of a former fur factory on Seventh Avenue at 29th Street, this $14 million project of OPERA America ($6 million for construction, $6 million for operating endowment and $2 million in relocation costs from Washington, D.C. to NYC) will serve as the heart of an industry that is widely disbursed, yet inherently collaborative. OPERA America's National Opera Center is the first-ever such facility built specifically for opera rehearsals, auditions and meetings. The creation of this facility was an innovative, dynamic and comprehensive response to the lack of appropriate spaces for these activities in New York City. It is truly a convening hub, a place to audition, a place to rehearse, a place to perform, a place to unite. Andrew Berman Architect designed the center, with acoustics by Robert R. Mahoney & Associates.

Fresh of her BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix debut, Nicole Moudaber is preparing to release a new EP, in collaboration with Victor Calderone, on the renowned Swedish Drumcode imprint. The 'Journey Begins' EP will be available worldwide on August 20th. Moudaber is also currently touring, throughout Europe and North America beginning in mid-September

The Commonweal Theatre Company, located in historic downtown Lanesboro, has been the recipient of grant monies totaling nearly $50,000 during the first half of 2012. Now in its twenty-fourth season, the Commonweal continues to serve as a cultural, educational, and economic asset to the region. Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (LACO) Music Director Jeffrey Kahane announces the appointments of Robert Brophy, viola (Los Angeles 90042); Sandy Hughes, flute (Portland, OR); Carrie Kennedy, violin II (Pasadena); and Joel Pargman, violin II (Pasadena) to LACO's roster, one of the nation's leading orchestras renowned for its wide-ranging repertoire and adventurous commissioning initiatives. The 2012-13 season marks the first full season with the Orchestra for Brophy, Kennedy and Pargman; and the first time that Hughes has performed with LACO. Kennedy and Pargman are husband and wife.

Singer and songwriter Greg Lake tours the UK and Europe in Songs of a Lifetime, described as 'a shared musical journey and performance experience, which received rave reviews from fans and critics alike in North America.' The tour begins this November 2012 in the UK.
