The Town Hall (123 West 43rd Street) has announced the Eighth Annual Broadway Cabaret Festival, which takes place over three consecutive weeks in October.

Composer, writer and performance artist Kate Douglas makes her debut at Joe's Pub on Friday, August 31st at 7:30 p.m. with an evening of original songs, poems and curiosities entitled Kate Douglas and the Imaginary Menagerie. Gypsy, America's most acclaimed musical, will kick off the Fine Arts Center Theatre Company's 25th season, Sept. 27 - Oct. 21, in the SaG?Ji Theatre. Premiering on Broadway in 1959, Gypsy debuted at the end of the golden age of musical comedy, and symbolizes the beginning of true musical theatre, a new era that straddled the lines between comedy and drama. Gypsy follows the life of burlesque star Gypsy Rose Lee and is full of comedy, honest drama, and vivacious musical numbers with lyrics written by a young Stephen Sondheim.

Delta Rae have announced that they've been selected to perform at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina on Thursday, September 6th. Calling it a 'tribute to the dynamic convention host state,' the Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) announced that the band will join the lineup of fellow North Carolina artist, James Taylor for festivities that will precede President Obama's nomination acceptance speech at the Bank of America Stadium.
