Austin Pendleton will step into the role of Lebedev beginning Friday, October 26 in his production of Anton Chekhov's IVANOV at Classic Stage Company (135 East 13th Street) replacing veteran actor Louis Zorich, who has withdrawn due to a foot injury. Pendleton performed the role of Lebedev in a 1990 production at Yale Repertory. IVANOV, which stars Ethan Hawke, Joely Richardson and Juliet Rylance, and is directed by Pendleton, is currently in previews, prior to an official opening Sunday, November 4. The cast also features Glenn Fitzgerald, Annette Hunt, Stephanie Janssen, Roberta Maxwell, George Morfogen, James Patrick Nelson, Anthony Newfield, Jonathan Marc Sherman, and Anne Troupe. IVANOV will play a limited engagement through Sunday, December 9.

West Palm Beach's only professional multi-award-winning resident theatre, Palm Beach Dramaworks, presents its 6th annual Master Playwrights Series featuring the work of Lanford Wilson, Jean Genet and Wendy Wasserstein beginning on December 10th with additional dates in February and April at the Don & Ann Brown Theatre (201 Clematis Street). Inspired and produced by Mark Perlberg and sponsored by Nancy and Jay Parker, the Master Playwright Series invites audience participation, discussion and an overview of the work and themes of each playwright in addition to staged readings of their work.

The Met: HD Live in Schools, a national program that provides students, teachers, and administrators with educational resources tied to select live transmissions of Metropolitan Opera performances, and arranges for students to attend the live Met HD transmissions locally, will reach more students and teachers in its fifth season than ever before. The program, which provides educational resources geared to select performances from The Met: Live in HD-the Met's award-winning series of live opera transmissions to movie theaters around the world-will reach approximately 15,000 students in 29 school districts in 21 states during the 2012-13 season.

Artistic Director Harry Christophers returns to Symphony Hall to lead the Handel and Haydn Society's Period Instrument Orchestra and Chorus in Handel's Messiah in the 159th continuous year of performance since H&H began programming the work annually in 1854. In place of the company's typical go-to holiday farce, EVERY CHRISTMAS STORY EVER TOLD!!, Capital Stage presents a different kind of farce for the season. Eric Wheeler who has starred in the annual Christmas production, returns to star in MISTAKES WERE MADE as B-list Off-Broadway producer Felix Artifex.
