Now celebrating its 20th Anniversary, The Blank Theatre's Nationwide Young Playwrights Festival has chosen 12 plays by young playwrights, aged 9 -19, from nine different states. These plays will be presented by professional actors and directors in this year's festival at The Stella Adler Theatre in Hollywood, May 31 - June 24.

SITTERS STUDIO PRODUCTIONS will produce the NYC premiere of 'HELP WANTED: PIRATES' at the MAGNET THEATRE starting May 19th. The production, with book and lyrics by CHRIS WIDNEY and music by J. SEBASTIAN FABAL, is a new musical for children performed by adults. This interactive children's musical is directed by MARY CATHERINE BURKE, choreographed by JEN LITTLEFIELD with musical direction by ANDREW WHEELER.

On Saturday, May 19, 2012, The Broadway Comedy Club in NYC will host the "Makin' Whoopie Comedy Show - Sex & the City Style." It is the first time the event travels to NYC featuring six funny ladies, burlesque dancers, and a singer doing a special rendition of the song Makin' Whoopee. There have been several other Makin' Whoopie Comedy Shows that sold out in DC and Easton, MD. The event will benefit Women In Need (WIN), a NY-based non-profit that provides shelter to homeless women and their children as well as the tools to lead independent lives.

Tampa Wrights 1: One-Act Plays by Tampa Playwrights opens on Thursday, May 3rd and plays Thursdays through Sundays until May 20th at the Silver Meteor Gallery in Ybor City. Presented by TRT2, Tampa Repertory Theatre's incubator company, the evening includes five short plays by four playwrights: "Apart Together," by Megan Lamasney; "Something Old," by Amanda Buck; "The Imaginary Man," by Landon Green; and "Almost Like Croatia" and "Wait," both by Sheila Cowley.

YOUTH THEATER will present, in conjunction with the now playing world premiere musical UP TO YOU, IT'S UP TO YOU, a open forum event on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at 11am to discuss bullying through leadership, moderated by Miss New York Kaitlin Monte, featuring an special opening number from BROADWAY SINGS FOR PRIDE. The event is free and parents and kids are especially encouraged to attend. Miss New York Kaitlin Monte has spent the year engaging discussion in schools and working with State Senator Klein to create legislative reform.

Rehearsals begin today, 30th April, for Harvey Fierstein's acclaimed Torch Song Trilogy. The production will be directed by Douglas Hodge and will play at the Menier Chocolate Factory 30 May - 12 August. Full casting is confirmed as follows: David Bedella will be playing Arnold Beckoff, Joe McFadden will be playing Ed, Sara Kestelman will be playing Mrs Beckoff, Tom Harries will be playing Alan, Perry Millward will be playing David and Laura Pyper will be playing Laurel.

The Old Globe's 2012-13 Season will feature the World Premieres of two new musicals: Allegiance - A New American Musical by Jay Kuo and Lorenzo Thione and A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder by Robert L. Freedman and Steven Lutvak. The season also includes George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion in celebration of the classic play's 100th anniversary and the World Premiere of a new adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House by Anne-Charlotte Hanes Harvey and Kirsten Brandt. Two recent Broadway hits will make their San Diego debuts at the Globe: David Lindsay-Abaire's Good People and Jon Robin Baitz's Other Desert Cities. Rounding out the season are the West Coast Premiere of Bekah Brunstetter's Be a Good Little Widow and the Southern California Premiere of Tarell Alvin McCraney's The Brothers Size.

Familiar names include Louise Brealey, Brendan Coyle, Russell Floyd, Elizabeth Hopper, Danny Kirrane, Lesley Nicol, Abi Titmuss, Rosie Wyatt, andMatilda Ziegler. Also announced are the guests for the HighMind Talks at the Festival, including Alan Bissett, Will Gompertz, Ben Hammersley, Owen Jones, Juliet Stevenson and Griff Rhys Jones.
