Ides of March, the next production for Out to Lunch Theatre at Beowulf Alley Theatre, will hold a general audition call on Monday, February 28. Daytime rehearsals begin immediately for noon performances on Fridays from March 11-25.

Five veterans of the Vermont comedy circuit turn up the heat in Middlebury. Jim Burge and The Jazz Directions are back this month to keep the passion of Valentine's Day alive through music at the Carrollwood Cultural Center. Every song in this month's Jazz with Jim program will have "Love" in the title.

The Parks & Recreation Department will be hosting the New York Skyliners Drum and Bugle Corps rehearsals this winter in Queens. The corps performs at exhibitions, and parades throughout the year and its field corps competes during the summer months throughout the northeastern states in the Drum Corps Associates competition circuit.

The third New York Philharmonic Young People's Concert (YPC) of the 2010-11 season will take place Saturday, March 12, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., led by Philharmonic Assistant Conductor Daniel Boico. The concert will focus on the Romantic era as part of the season's theme, "The Ages of Music," which explores the four major periods of orchestral music. Philharmonic Director of Education Theodore Wiprud is the host of the series, designed for youngsters 6 to 12 years of age, with programs written and directed by Tom Dulack. This concert will feature violinist Erno Kallai - one of four young violinists who are appearing as soloists on the YPCs this season - and actors Adam Alexander and Alesia Lawson.

Maine State Music Theatre is looking for bright, energetic kids to perform in two special shows this season: ANNIE and THE WIZ. ANNIE needs girls to play Annie and her fellow orphans. Candidates must be between 6-15 years old and be able to act, sing, and dance. THE WIZ is searching for African American children. The first Socrates in the City event of 2011 will be a performance of the hit play FREUD'S LAST SESSION, by Mark St. Germain, this Sunday, February 13th at 7pm. There will be a pre-show reception at 6:15. As soon as this special evening was announced, all 145 tickets sold out within 24 hours. After Sunday's performance, Socrates in the City Founder Eric Metaxas will host a Q&A "talkback" with Mark St. Germain and the two stars of FREUD'S LAST SESSION, Mark H. Dold (C.S. Irish Flautist Fiona Kelly, currently studying in the Juilliard School of Music, New York, has taken 2nd place in the 'Gheorghe Dima' International Music Competition in the Music Academy in ?Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The competition took place from February 7-11.

Buffalo native, Broadway actor and film star Stephen McKinley Henderson will be the guest of honor at a Saturday, April 30, 2011 special event hosted by Road Less Traveled Productions (RLTP). The April 30th event, An Evening with Stephen McKinley Henderson, will feature an intimate look into Henderson's life and work. Henderson also will attend the RLTP Annual Spring Gala on Saturday, May 14, 2011.

One of the earliest operas, written in the 1640s, Monteverdi's The Coronation of Poppea, is to get a fresh treatment by Mark Ravenhill and Alex Silverman, with a new jazz-inspired orchestration, and featuring a cast of exciting singing talents. It will premiere as part of the Little Opera House's first ever repertory season, with 10 performances from Tuesday April 5 to Thursday May 19.

The Vagabond Players continues the 2011 season with Arthur Miller's masterpiece, Death of a Salesman. The issues Miller and Willy Loman grappled with sixty years ago are still prevalent today. The production, directed by Michael B. Zemarel, opens February 25 and runs through March 27.

Previews begin Wednesday (2/16) at 7:00pm for the world premiere of White People, a comedy by Neil Cuthbert and Neil Cuthbert, directed by Michael Barakiva, at the Ensemble Studio Theatre for an opening Thursday, February 24, at 7:00pm and a run through Sunday, March 13.

The Canadian Opera Company has announced their performances and events for this May. That month will see new productions, concerts and discussions on famous operas. COC has also begun registration for its summer programs for children.
