On April 17th, Jenn Gambatese will take the 54 Below stage again. This time the show, titled Once Upon a Melody, will combine Rodgers & Hammerstein with the melodies of Disney songwriters among the ranks of Alan Menken and Phil Collins. As she prepares for her upcoming solo show, Gambatese spoke with BroadwayWorld about her past projects (Hairspray, Tarzan, and Wicked to name a few), and the why Rodgers & Hammerstein have appeared in her work again and again.

FROZEN held its Broadway opening last night, but the story of Anna and Elsa won't stop there. Hints at a sequel for the animated Disney film have been swirling since the beginning of FROZEN mania in 2013. At last night's opening of the stage musical, the film's creative team confirmed that the story and songs for FROZEN 2 are in the works!

In an interview on RuPaul: What's the Tee?, a podcast hosted by RuPaul and Michelle Visage, Kristin Chenoweth provided an update on the development of her Tammy Faye Bakker project. Bakker was famed as a Christian singer, evangelist, television personality, and businesswoman, the life of which Chenoweth would like to pay tribute to onstage. The work has yet to come to fruition, but is still in the process, she says.

Artistic Director Charlotte Moore and Producing Director Ciaran O'Reilly, both actors, have fostered a welcoming home for performers at the Rep, the actress says. Theatre educator and 2017 Tony Honoree Rachel Harry has written an essay in response to the climate of gun violence on school campuses. The essay comes in the wake of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida last Wednesday, which claimed the lives of 17 students.

Before a performance of the play America is Hard to See, audience members have the opportunity to wander across a canvas map of Miracle Village. What appears as a gridded crisscrossing of rural living quarters is home to a community of men - sex offenders - who are finding a way to move forward. Travis Russ, artistic director at Life Jacket Theatre Company, calls this Southern Florida community one of many "little dots" on a map, where real people have stories to tell. In his case, Russ decided that the stories within Miracle Village should be told onstage. In a phone interview with BroadwayWorld, Russ discussed bringing the residents' true stories to the theatre.
