NYC Students Give Mom a Unique Mother's Day Gift 5/9May 4, 2010On May 9, 2010 150 of New York City's best young ballroom dancers will show off their moves in the fox trot, cha cha, tango, waltz and the swing for their mothers on Mother's Day at the Dancing Classrooms 4th Annual Dance Festival. The event is scheduled from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Columbia University's Lerner Hall, 2920 Broadway in New York City.

Halsted, raised the curtain at 7:30p.m. on Monday, May 3rd, 2010 in honor of Michael Cullen, owner of the Mercury Theater and Cullen's Bar and Grill, and a thirty five-year veteran producer and pioneer in the development of Chicagoland theater as it is known today. Recently suffering from a stroke, Mr. Cullen requires extensive therapy treatments. The evening, directed by Michael Weber, featured Chicago's Entertainer Ron Hawking, Gretchen Cryer (Writer and star of I'm Getting My Act Together) and cast members from Million Dollar Quartet. The evening also featured cast members appearing from some of the many dynamic productions that Michael Cullen produced including Steel Magnolias (Nancy Baird), A Couple of Blaguards (Howard Platt), Pump Boys And Dinettes (Malcolm Ruhl, John Foley, Shawn Stengel, Tom Mendel, Mary Launder, Rick Pickren, Tammy Mader, Liza Jaine, Tiffany Herlien, Shaun Whitely, Brian Burke and Maggie LaMee) & The Irish And How They Got That Way (Jane Baxter, Miller, Kent Lewis, David Girolmo, Justine Serino, and Susan Voelz.). Chicago Tribune Theater Critic Chris Jones made a special appearance that was the highlight of the evening. Thousands of dollars were raised for Mr. Cullen's rehabilitative care.

San Jose Repertory Theatre Takes Home Five SF Bay Area Theatre Critics’ Circle AwardsMay 4, 2010Last night at an awards ceremony held in the Palace of Fine Arts, San Jose Repertory Theatre was awarded five distinct honors by the San Francisco Bay Area Critics' Circle Awards' committee for the critically acclaimed world premiere of The Kite Runner. Artist Michael Riedel Event At The Kitchen 5/8May 4, 2010In a presentation titled, 'The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog,' Michael Riedel talks about his publications (1997-2009) on the occasion of his new release Meckert (Koenig Books). Using numerous pictures and sound recordings, the latter in the form of transcribed texts, Meckert continues the artist's series of publications (Scheißen und Brunzen, 2000; Oskar, 2003; Johnson - Robert, 2004; Tirala, 2006; Gedruckte und nicht gedruckte Poster, 2008; amongst others), which are published as independent works parallel to his exhibitions. Catherine, Tuesday, Fiontan, and Mieke are four new texts that were recorded during his exhibitions in Cork, New York, London, and Basel, respectively. The dialogues come from phone calls, in which the current situation at each exhibition is described.
