Beau Higgins - Page 88

Beau Higgins Currently spending his time between New York and Florida, Beau was born to a theatrical family in Brooklyn. He studied drama at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute and at HB Studios. He studied theater singing with Julia Sperratore and Helen Gallagher. Beau later taught drama at the Lincoln Center Square for the Arts. It was at this time Beau began working with the Theater Development Fund and helped found New York's famed HALF PRICE TICKET BOOTH. Early in his career, Beau was screen tested and contracted for Warner Brothers. He co-hosted, an early cable variety series on Manhattan's Teleprompter channel. At this time he directed the Johnny Specca musical, SEX IS..? at the Lincoln Center Library Theater. Beau has performed Off-Broadway in FAT FELL DOWN, The Comic Strip Theater's LITTLE LULU AND THE INVISIBLE INK and WILL THE REAL ZOOPERMAN PLEASE STAND UP. Around the country he has delighted audiences with his performances in ANYTHING GOES, THE APPLE TREE, GUYS & DOLLS, and HELLZAPOPPIN! He sang for New York audiences at such cabarets as The Duplex and Upstairs at the Downstairs. He has had numerous television appearances but is most proud to have been a winning contestant on the game shows JACKPOT and THE $20,000 PYRAMID.




COWGIRLS Extends At FST Through July 17

The 'energetic' musical is under the direction of Mary Murfitt (concept of COWGIRLS/composer/lyricist) and music direction by Mary Ehlinger (musical arrangments for COWGIRLS), and brings together six talented actresses-singers-musicians 'for a thoroughly enjoyable evening of musical theatre.' FST will present the regional premiere of Our Son's Wedding. The new play had its world premiere at Gloucester Stage Company, and went on to a recent run at Lake George Dinner Theatre in New York. New York actress Marina Re returns to FST as the wife, Mary, after appearing as the mother in both The Miamians and Boleros for the Disenchanted. She also appeared in Our Son's Wedding at Lake George Dinner Theatre and Gloucester Stage in the same role. Marina's husband, actor Paul D'Amato, will join her on stage in what will surely be a chemistry filled portrayal of the couple Angelo and Mary Lo Presto.

Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre closes the 2010-2011 season with the world premiere of See Jane Run!, a new musical by Maribeth Graham and Dana P. Rowe. A multiple nominee and three-time recipient of the Carbonell Award, Graham has appeared in New York City Off-Broadway, many times at Actors' Playhouse and in most major South Florida regional theaters. Rowe, whose musical works include Zombie Prom, The Fix, and The Witches of Eastwick, has received Olivier Award nominations for The Fix and The Witches of Eastwick, both of which were produced in London's West End by Sir Cameron Mackintosh.

In response to the sudden closure this week of Florida Stage, Judith A. Mitchell, Chief Executive Officer of the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, today announced that the Center would offer a complimentary ticket for each ticket purchased through the Kravis Center's box office to Florida Stage's now-cancelled production of Ella. The 'comps' can be used at any 'Kravis Center presents' performance in the Rinker Playhouse, Persson Hall or Gosman Amphitheatre during the 2011-2012 season, based on availability.
