Asolo Rep has partnered with Community Haven, Easter Seals of Southwest Florida,Bayshore High School and the Oak Park School to expand the acclaimed Kaleidoscope program, which has for more than 15 years offered a specialized summer program of musical theatre workshops for developmentally disabled adults and teens. These partnerships are an important component of new Kaleidoscope program enhancements designed to expand services and broaden participation.

West Palm Beach's only resident professional theatre, Palm Beach Dramaworks, will present 'The Gin Game' - the Pulitzer Prize winning play by D.L. Coburn, as their summer offering, opening on Friday, July 16th (8PM) for a strictly limited engagement at their intimate downtown theatre (322 Banyan Boulevard). Special priced preview performances are slated for July 14th & 15th (8PM) and the production will play through August 15th.

Gulfshore Playhouse is gearing up for their 5th season with an eclectic mix of productions. Michael McKeever is South Florida's most produced and prolific playwright. Jerry Seinfeld, star of the megahit TV series SEINFELD is hitting the road in a return to his first love - stand-up comedy. Recently hailed as 'the master stand-up comic of his generation' and 'the best comedian of our time' in a Washington Post article by Tom Shales, SEINFELD has an uncanny ability to joke about the little things in life that relate to audiences everywhere. SEINFELD now sets his sights on performing his material across the country in 2010.

Lea DeLaria will be presenting two nights of comedy and song at the Manor Epic Showroom Friday, July 30th and July 31st at 7:30 p.m. for the benefit of Rising Action Theatre. This is the first partnership between Rising Action Theatre and The Manor Complex. 'We anticipate this will be a great success, and we plan to do more of these events in the future,' says David Goldyn, Rising Action's Producing Artistic Director. Well known South Florida actor Gordon McConnell was taken to hospital between the matinee and evening performance of 'Secret Order' at the Caldwell Theatre on June 10th. McConnell was performing the leading role of Dr. Bob Brock. He began to feel disoriented and the Caldwell management immediately cancelled the evening performance.

Tampa Bay Area's new professional musical theater company, New American Theater, through a partnership with CW Capital and Ciminelli Real Estate Services, will be opening their doors at BayWalk. The theater will occupy the former Ann Taylor store and will use the space for their educational workshops and classes, rehearsals and company offices.

BABALU was a fine night at the theater. I am not positive yet if it is a revue, a nightclub act, or a Broadway musical trying to find its way. Filled with the music of Desi Arnaz, and a few others, this show is a love letter from Lucie Arnaz to her much adored father, Desi. She talks a lot about her father, sings and dances to music from his career and spends the performance as a charming host. Lucie looks beautiful, and her singing is wonderful. She appears to be having a fine time, and certainly wants the audience to have a great time.

After the universal acclaim that accompanied Caldwell Theatre's 2009 Summer season, (Vices: A Love Story, The Whipping Man) Artistic Director Clive Cholerton, has chosen again to counter program against traditional summer fare, and will produce a World premiere in Joel Gross's highly emotional romantic drama, The Comfort of Darkness, preceded by the Southeastern premiere of Bob Clyman's successful comedic thriller, Secret Order.

'We have an exciting mix of classic, tap dancing, powerful and nostalgic Broadways hits,' he adds.

The 2010 2011 Kravis On Broadway season boasts a powerful line up which includes The New Mel Brooks Musical Young Frankenstein and straight from the great white way, a revival of West Side Story. Add to this, NETworks Presents Disney's Beauty & The Beast, Dreamgirls and The Color Purple, all making their West Palm Beach debut at the Kravis Center.
