Working Class Clown at Arts House – North Melbourne Town Hall

Samoan-Australian artist Tommy Misa stars in this funny, tender solo work about grief, family and the people who hold us up. Pepe Toa navigates grief, gentrification and belonging in a city that keeps concreting over those who bloom in the cracks, with Misa's physical, playful clowning sitting alongside movement, poetry and song drawing on Samoan clowning and weaving. The season is directed by Bernadette Fam and produced by Green Door Theatre Company. A set piece made by hand by Misa, inspired by traditional Samoan architecture, serves as a physical and metaphoric structure throughout the work.
