Theater play by American playwright Katori Hall, "The Mountaintop". It is a fictional depiction of Martin Luther King Jr.'s last night, on the eve of his assassination in 1968. The Mountaintop received its world premiere in London at Theatre 503 before transferring to Trafalgar Studios in the West End, where it won the 2010 Olivier Award for Best New Play. The 2011 Broadway production starred Samuel L. Jackson and Angela Bassett.We have a stellar cast and are excited to present this play that reveals a vulnerable side of Martin Luther King, Jr. and a bold re-imagining of his last night on earth. The music is from Mahalia Jackson, which will inspire and hopefully touch the hearts of our audience.The Paradox Players will be presenting"The Mountaintop" by Katori Hallat the First Unitarian Universalist Church in Austin, 4700 Grover Street,Friday and Saturday - 8pm, and Sunday - 3pm for three weekends,February 21 - March 8th.February 22nd will be a fundraiser for Youth Rise Austin.The play is directed by Rachelle Chery and Chelsea Manasseri.The cast features professional actors, John R. Christopher and Jasmin Garlic.
