THE CLEAN HOUSE
BY SARAH RUHL
DIRECTED BY: JULIE SMITH
This funny, imaginative, and unexpectedly poignant play is about relationships, purpose, and what it truly means to care for one another. The story centers on Lane, a successful doctor who hires a Brazilian housekeeper more interested in creating the perfect joke than actually cleaning. As the lives of Lane, her family, and her patients become increasingly intertwined, the play unfolds into a tender exploration of love, grief, forgiveness, and finding beauty in life’s imperfections. Equal parts quirky comedy and emotional reflection, The Clean House is both delightfully unexpected and deeply human.
