Kennesaw State University’s Department of Theatre and Performance Studies presents Barbecue, a provocative comedy by Robert O'Hara, from October 1 to 6 at the Onyx Theater. The play revolves around the O'Mallery siblings, who gather to stage an unconventional intervention for their sister Barbara amidst her escalating drug addiction. Featuring two parallel families—one Black and one White—the production cleverly juxtaposes their dynamics while exploring themes of race, family, and America's fascination with reality TV. Directed by Damian Lockhart, this fully staged performance promises to blend humor with heavy themes, inviting the audience to reflect on their own biases and societal norms.
