Kenny Leon and True Colors Theatre Company are proud to announce its 2010-2011 season. This is the eighth season for Kenny Leon's True Colors Theatre Company, which opens in October with a World Premiere Musical about the life of Bessie Smith written and directed by former Associate Artistic Director at the ALLIANCE THEATRE, David BellKenny Leon will direct the Regional Premiere of Nathan Louis Jackson's comic drama Broke-ology.

The season continues with the classic The Colored Museum by George C. Wolfe and closes with Sam Sheppard's hit A Fool For Love starring Jasmine Guy fro TV's A Different World. In addition to the four play season, True Colors' hit gospel holiday classic Langston Hughes' Black Nativity is back by popular demand, choreographed & directed by Patdro Harris with musical direction by JMichael. Performances are Tuesday -
Saturday @ 8 PM and Saturday and Sunday @ 2:30 PM. In addition to the mainstage season, this year True Colors will present the 5th Annual August Wilson Monologue Competition with the national finals being held on-stage at the August Wilson Theatre on Broadway in May 2011. Tickets and Season

Regional Premiere

In accordance with Broke-ology - the science of being broke - the King family has learned to balance sacrifice and let love keep them together. Dad remains in his home even as his health and his neighborhood are deteriorating. When the question is raised of how to take care of their
ailing father, the two brothers find themselves strangely at odds. This comic drama encourages us to stay linked to our roots no matter where life takes us.

A satirical exhibit of stories illuminates race relations in America. African American men and women both honor and escape the legacy of suffering that is the baggage of their past. A vaudevillian mosaic that spans over 200 years of the African American experience and celebrates African American culture, mocks stereotypes and takes a closer look at what it means to be Black in America.

Sex, love, hate, and passion combine as they are faced with a choice: return to their combative relationship or try to live their lives alone.
