Out on Film in association with The Robert Mello Studio will present Moisés Kaufman and Members of the Tectonic Theatre Company's THE LARAMIE PROJECT as a one-night benefit for The Matthew Shepard Foundation on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at 7:00 PM.

The event is part of Out on Film, the Atlanta LGBT Film Festival, running September 27, 2018 until October 7, 2018.

The all-star cast includes Stephen Moyer (TRUE BLOOD, THE GIFTED), Amy Acker (ANGEL, THE GIFTED), Bruce Greenwood (THE RESIDENT, GERALD'S GAME), Jessica Miesel (THE PURGE, THE RESIDENT), Randy Havens (STRANGER THINGS), Tara Ochs (LIZZIE), Steve Coulter (THE FRONT RUNNER), Atlanta theatre legend, Rosemary Newcott and David Shae (the upcoming THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE). The play is directed by Atlanta native and casting director, Chad Darnell.

October 12, 2018 will mark the 20th anniversary since the death of Matthew Shepard in Laramie, Wyoming.

Written in 2000 by Moisés Kaufman and members of the Tectonic Theater Project (specifically, Leigh Fondakowski, Stephen Belber, Greg Pierotti, Barbara Pitts, Stephen Wangh, Amanda Gronich, Sara Lambert, John McAdams, Maude Mitchell, Andy Paris, and Kelli Simpkins) about the reaction to the 1998 murder of gay University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepard in Laramie, Wyoming. The murder was denounced as a hate crime and brought attention to the lack of hate crime laws in various states, including Wyoming.

The play draws on hundreds of interviews conducted by the theatre company with inhabitants of the town, company members' own journal entries, and published news reports. It is divided into three acts, and nine actors portray more than sixty characters in a series of short scenes.

Dad's Garage Theatre Company is generously donating the space for the event. The theatre is located at 569 Ezzard Street, SE Atlanta, GA 30312.

Tickets are only $25 and all proceeds go to the Matthew Shepard Foundation.
