Serenbe Playhouse will close its second season with the Atlanta premiere of Shipwrecked! An Entertainment - The Amazing Adventures of Louis de Rougemont (as Told by Himself) by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Donald Margulies. The play runs Thursday, August 4 - Saturday, August 27, with performances every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening at 8:30pm, performed under the stars on The Farmers Market Stage in Serenbe.

Directed by Serenbe Playouse founder and artistic director Brian Clowdus, and featuring Mark Kincaid, Minka Wiltz and Will Shuler, Shipwrecked! tells the story of the adventurous Louis de Rougemont, who invites you to hear his amazing story of bravery, survival and celebrity that left nineteenth-century England spellbound. Dare to be whisked away in a story of the high seas, populated by exotic islanders, flying wombats, giant sea turtles and a monstrous man-eating octopus. Shipwrecked! examines how far we're willing to blur the line between fact and fiction in order to leave our mark on the world.

"It will be impossible for the audience to not feel part of this story of adventure, danger and entertainment," says director Brian Clowdus. "Shipwrecked! audiences will be transported back to a bustling market set in early 1900's London. We are using the existing Serenbe Farmers Market but adding peddlers and a stage to create the perfect setting for someone hop up and sell a yarn-spinning tale."

Shipwrecked! is the third and final show of Serenbe Playhouse's second season. Mainstage shows are performed in outdoor, natural surroundings in the Serenbe community. The Ugly Duckling runs concurrently on Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00pm through August 28, and a late night cabaret series has two more events - August 6 and 20 at 10:30pm at The Hil Restaurant. Serenbe is a new community located 40 minutes South of the heart of Atlanta. The New York Times called Serenbe "Sonoma for the New South" and Atlanta Magazine said that Serenbe was "a Playhouse in Paradise". Arts critic Wendell Brock said of last summer's John & Jen, "The show compares favorably to work by Atlanta's well established in-town theaters... The only difference is that it's performed al fresco, so that the sky and the clouds become part of the drama."

The mission of Serenbe Playhouse includes the belief that theatre is an art form with a unique power to illuminate the human experience, and does so by producing artistically rich, open-air theatrical performances. A pioneer in modeling Green Theatre Practices, Serenbe Playhouse produces plays with a commitment to social responsibility and environmental stewardship. The Playhouse was established under the umbrella of its parent organization, the Serenbe Institute for Art Culture & the Environment, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, and produced its inaugural season in the summer of 2010 with productions of John & Jen, The Jungle Book and Shakespeare's R&J.

Shipwrecked! will perform August 4 - 27, every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night at 8:30pm. Serenbe is located in Chattahoochee Hills, just West of Palmetto. Tickets for Shipwrecked! are $20 for adults, $15 for students and children. Tickets for all performances are available online (www.serenbeplayhouse.com) or by calling The Playhouse at 770.436.1110.
