Fox Theatre Recognized Among Leaders in Worldwide Ticket Sales

Atlanta's historic Fox Theatre is recognized as a Top Stop for Mid-Year 2014 by leading entertainment trade publications Venues Today and Pollstar Magazine. The Fox Theatre ranked second in the world for concert ticket sales, among similar-sized venues, in the Venues Today 2014 "Mid-Year Top Stop" rankings for the second consecutive year for facilities of 2,001-5,000 seating capacity. The city's landmark attraction is also ranked third in Pollstar Magazine's midyear list of Top 100 Theater Venues for Worldwide Ticket Sales.

The Venues Today rankings, released in the July 2014 issue, are based on reported concert and event grosses from October 16, 2013 through May 15, 2014. During this period, the Fox Theatre accumulated a total box office gross of $21,832,012, placing itself on the chart and in the company of mid-sized venues around the world such as the Ryman Theatre in Nashville and the Beacon Theatre in New York.

The Fox Theatre placed third on Pollstar Magazine's list with 278,308 tickets sold during January 1 to June 30 of this year, earning the venue the highest ranking among southeastern theaters. The venue was surrounded by the likes of other notable theaters including Radio City Music Hall in New York and Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles.

During this period, the Fox Theatre hosted record-breaking runs of Broadway Across America performances including Book of Mormon and The Lion King, as well as the fastest-selling concert in Fox Theatre history, All My Friends: Celebrating The Songs & Voice Of Gregg Allman. The venue was also seen on TV screens across the country in FOX's So You Think You Can Dance and America's Got Talent.

Performances and shows through the end of the year at the Fox Theatre include: Coca-Cola Summer Film Festival (various dates), Michael McDonald and TOTO (8/22), Bob Weir & Ratdog (8/26), Chris Tucker (8/30), Sesame Street Live (9/12 - 9/14), Mamma Mia! (9/23 - 9/28), Experience Hendrix (9/24), Cirque Du Soleil: Amaluna* (10/3 - 11/16), The Australian Pink Floyd Show (10/10), John Prine with special guest Jason Isbell (10/18), The Phantom of the Opera (10/22 - 11/2), Aretha Franklin (11/8), Straight No Chaser (11/14), Dirty Dancing (11/25 - 11/30), Under the Streetlamp (12/21) and Cleopatra's New Year's Eve Ball (12/31).
