Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra (ASYO) Music Director Jere Flint will lead the ASYO in its Crescendo Concert on Sunday, March 17, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center.

FOX 5 News anchor Tom Haynes will join Mr. Flint and the Youth Orchestra to narrate Britten's The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra.

The program will also feature Catherine Xie, one of the winners of the Youth Orchestra's annual Concerto Competition, who will perform the first movement of Saint-Säens's Piano Concerto No. 2. Ms. Xie is a sophomore at Johns Creek High School and is currently in her second season with the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra.

Guest conductor Michael Palmer - the former Associate Conductor of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra - will lead the Youth Orchestra in Dvo?ák's Symphony No. 8.

Established in 1974, the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra provides Atlanta's most talented and dedicated students an outlet to perform masterworks. Each year, more than 300 instrumentalists ages 13-18 audition for one of 120 seats in the orchestra. The Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra presents three concerts each year, in addition to the Atlanta Symphony Kid's Christmas concerts, and members have exclusive invitations to participate in readings and master classes with the top artists in the instrumental music industry.
