Academy Theatre Presents Its Holiday Cheer Cabaret
Come celebrate the beginning of the holiday season with Academy Theatre! Join us for a collection of funny, festive and sentimental holiday songs!
Academy favorites including Lynna Schmidt and Annie Cook join Fracena Byrd to present an evening of great holiday songs! Some of the songs will be traditional, but some have a slight twist!
This year's holiday show is being held at Hapeville's historic Christ Church & Carriage House. Academy Theatre's regular space, the Hapeville Performing Arts Center, is currently closed for renovations to the building structure, and will be opening again 2019. The new stage, with 136 seats, is expected to open later next year.
"Christmas is my favorite time of year, and music has always been a part of it!" says Lynna Schmidt. "I think what I love the most about Christmas shows and this review specifically, is the amazing joy of this music. The memories......my childhood, my children's growing up years. The true wonder of this time of year. I don't even mind practicing Christmas songs when it's 80 degrees outside. Join this truly lovely cast and celebrate the season!"
Fracena Byrd adds, "I love the fact that this show is perfect for the whole family. You'll go away with a smile on your face, I promise."
Rounding out the cast is Annie Cook, a well-respected musician, music director, and performer in the Atlanta area. "What a fun way to start the holiday season! When I first joined the cast, they kept telling me, 'It's going to be fun', and it was and still!", says Cook. " It's a fantastic variety of fun-filled songs along with carols we all know and love!"
