The satiric comedy series "Shoot the Messenger" premieres July 9th.  The shows will play every Monday night at 8 PM at the Ace of Clubs Cabaret, located under Acme Restaurant (3rd St. between Broadway and Lafayette).

"Shoot the Messenger" will kick off with a segement featuring Air American talk show host Rachel Maddow, as well as NYU professor, author and media watchdog Mark Crispin Miller.

"Shoot the Messenger," according to press materials, is "a satirical weekly wrap up of the news concocted in the brain of 'Daily Show' co-creator Lizz Winstead. It is a live sketch show that covers all the stories of the week, presented by the fictional producers and on-air talent of "24/7" a third rate fictional cable news network.  It's a stinging and hilarious indictment of not only the newsmakers but of the media itself, giving the audience a glimpse into the behind the scenes decision making that goes on at a news network, and how those decisions make it onto the airwaves."

"But not everyone in the media gets a flogging; 'Shoot the Messenger' celebrates those people who are doing great work; so each week we'll interview a media figure who digs deep and gets it right and who can give us the lowdown on the big stories that were buried or, worse, ignored by our pals working in the corporate-run media."

The writers, actors and producers of "Shoot the Messenger" all come from Air America Radio and "The Daily Show."

The series' website www.shootthemessengernyc.com will soon be running, and those who don't live in NYC will be able to see "Shoot the Messenger" live online.
