Williamstown's Starry Stoppard Salute Set for November 13

As previously announced, the Williamstown Theatre Festival (2002 Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre) will salute the three-time Tony Award-winng playwright and Academy Award-winning film writer Tom Stoppard (The Real Thing, Travesties, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead) at a Gala to benefit the Festival on Monday, November 13, 2006 at the Puck Building in New York.

The tribute to Stoppard will be introduced by Roger Rees (Artistic Director of the Festival), who created the role of Henry in the West End premiere of Stoppard's The Real Thing and the role of Kerner in the West End premiere of his Hapgood.

Joining Rees in the tribute to Stoppard will be Kate Burton (3-time Tony nominated) and Gregg Edelman who will perform a scene from Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead; Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice (Co-writers of Tony-winning Jersey Boys) who will reveal the challenges of playwriting; and Austin Pendleton, actor, director and playwright, who will say a few words in celebration of the evening's honoree. 

Confirmed to attend the Gala are: Tom Stoppard, Paul Newman, Joanne Woodward, Roger Rees, Marshall Brickman, Catherine Brunell, Kate Burton, Kerry Butler, Matt Cavenaugh Bob Crowley, Nikki Renée Daniels, Blythe Danner, Gregg Edelman, Rick Elice, Austin Pendleton and Jean Kennedy Smith.

Musical entertainment will be by Broadway and Williamstown stars Catherine Brunell (Broadway: Thoroughly Modern Millie and Les Miserables, Williamstown: Anything Goes), Kerry Butler (Broadway: Hairspray and Little Shop of Horrors, Williamstown: The Opposite of Sex), Matt Cavenaugh (Broadway:  Grey Gardens and Urban Cowboys, Williamstown: Anything Goes), Nikki Renée Daniels (Broadway: Les Miserables (current revival), and AIDA, Williamstown:  Anything Goes) and Gregg Edelman (Broadway:  Wonderful Town, 1776and City of Angels, Williamstown: The Opposite of Sex).
