Williamstown Theatre Festival to Release 60th Anniversary Coffee Table Book

By:

The Williamstown Theatre Festival announces the publication of MANY STAGES, a coffee table book on the Festival's 60 years.

Subtitled A Portrait of Williamstown Theatre Festival / The First 60 Years: 1954-2014, the book is co-authored by WTF veterans Juliet Flynt, Steve Lawson, and Joan Zegras with contributions from many Festival regulars. In 350 pages, it celebrates six decades through the eyes of actors, playwrights, artistic leaders, directors, designers, and area residents, saluting all those who have played a part in enabling WTF to thrive. Foregoing a typical chronological history, the book delivers an unorthodox, impressionistic vision of a Festival still in progress. In addition to quotes from interviews and accompanying text, there are over 900 historic and breathtaking photographs, sketches, and posters, making MANY STAGES a feast for the eye as well as an invaluable portrait of a major artistic organization.

Since its inception, WTF has been a launching pad for young talents eager to kick off their careers as well as a haven in which established artists can grow. The Festival has also provided a forum for experimentation with new plays and fresh interpretations of classics. MANY STAGES echoes these multifaceted aspects, and will be read with pleasure both by WTF friends and alumni and by those who may be unfamiliar with the Festival but love the art of theater.
