WAKE UP with BWW 7/1/14 - The Devil Tempts Off-Broadway in Encores! FAUST, and More!

Good morning, BroadwayWorld! Because we know all our readers eat, sleep and breathe Broadway, what could be better than waking up to it? Today's big news: The next installment in Encores! Off-Center is FAUST: THE CONCERT, featuring Randy Newman and an all-star cast, plus The Skivvies strip down and more!

Broadway Weather Forecast: 88 and mostly sunny. Put on your suncreen and get in line for Shakespeare in the Park!

Quote of the Day: In honor of FAUST: THE CONCERT tonight, here are some wise words from the story's original author, Goethe...

Every day we should hear at least one little song, read one good poem, see one exquisite picture, and, if possible, speak a few sensible words.
-- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (via BrainyQuote)

What we're looking forward to: The FORBIDDEN BROADWAY: COMES OUT SWINGING! cast recording, out later this month. We can't wait to re-live this season's shows and laugh while doing it!

And finally, a Happy Birthday shout-out to Twyla Tharp, who turns 73 today!

Tharp created, directed and choreographed Come Fly Away, The Times They Are A-Changin' and Movin' Out on Broadway. She also directed and choreographed Singin' in the Rain and The Catherine Wheel and crafted the moves for Push Comes to Shove. She won the 2003 Tony and Drama Desk awards for Best Choreography for Movin' Out, and later the 2010 Drama Desk Award for Come Fly Away.
