Video: A Complete Herstory of RuPaul's Drag Race Rusicals
The Season 15 Drag Race Rusical episode airs tonight, March 17, on MTV.
Who needs musical theatre when RuPaul has given the world the gift of Rusical theatre? RuPaul's Drag Race is about to get a little bit Broadway when the cast cuts loose to "Wigloose: The Rusical!" in tonight's episode.
What exactly makes a Rusical? While the Rusical challenge has varied a bit from season to season, there are two distinct qualifiers. 1. The queens play a character other than their typical drag persona; 2. The material has been written for the episode in advance (ex: If the queens are writing their own verses/raps/etc., it's not a Rusical). There have been a few instances of live singing in past Rusicals (Season 6, Season 10, Drag Race UK Season 2, Canada's Drag Race Season 2), but typically the contestants lipsync to a pre-reorded voice or lip-sync to their own voice, recorded earlier in the episode.
Tune in to MTV tonight at 8pm to watch as the remaining contestants (Anetra, Loosey LaDuca, Luxx Noir London, Mistress Isabelle Brooks, Salina EsTitties, and Sasha Colby) take on the Season 15 Rusical challenge. Until then, recap every Rusical moment from seasons past.
