BroadwayWorld.com is excited to introduce its newest blogger - VP Boyle! VP BOYLE is one of the most sought after Broadway audition and life coaches for professionals in New York City and works with actors at every level across the country to spread his irreverent approach to theatrical wellness. He wears many hats in the Broadway community (director, casting director, actor, writer, producer) and is most known in the theatrical casting world for creating The Musical Theatre Forum, a professional casting workshop with every major Broadway casting agency in NYC.

VP currently serves as the creator and Chair of the New York Film Academy's new cutting-edge Musical Theatre & Film Conservatory Program. The two-year program merges conservatory musical theatre training with Broadway professionals and an intensive acting on film curriculum that culminates with an original movie musical film project.

VP will be blogging weekly for BroadwayWorld.com...

Every day we get to choose in or out. And believe it or not, at any point you can change your mind.

Very few people will every really understand someone’s choice to “do theatre” or “be an actor.” Let it go! Tonight when you have scrubbed your face, brushed your teeth and considered the days events, you (and only you) are the one responsible for the choices you made today. No one is forcing you to do anything—including theatre. I love theatre people because of their amazing spirit, unending generosity and the vibrant way they experience the world. But often times, artists* forget that we signed up for this adventure. We chose “in” at some point and everyday we renew our commitment to stay or choose “out.”

We are very lucky people. Period. If you are pursuing the arts in any way, shape or form you have been granted gifts and resources many folks on the planet could never dream of having. Honor them and use them. Change the world. And keep other people’s ideas about your life’s work where they belong—in the opinion file. If you agree with someone, consider that person a mentor. If you disagree, thank them for sharing. If you just don’t give a hoot, then listen and move on.

Live who you are. Love what you do.
XOXO VP

* I love the term “artist” way more in our creative tribe than “actor” so expect to see it a lot in this blog as we move forward.
